The TESTech carpet flammability tester by methenamine tablet method is designed and manufactured according to GB/T 11049-2008. It also complies with the requirements of 16 CFR 1630-2009 and 16 CFR 1631-2009.

Under specified test conditions, the tester exposes a horizontally positioned specimen to a small ignition source, namely a methenamine tablet, and measures the damaged length and flame spread time after testing. It is suitable for carpets with various structural constructions and fiber compositions.

• Test chamber made of stainless steel; internal dimensions 304.8 mm x 304.8 mm x 304.8 mm (12 in x 12 in x 12 in).
• Chamber wall thickness: 6.35 mm (1/4 in).
• Square metal plate made of stainless steel, 228.6 mm x 228.6 mm x 6.35 mm (9 in x 9 in x 1/4 in), with a central circular opening of 203.2 mm (8 in) diameter.
• Steel ruler with 1 mm graduation.
• Stopwatch with 1 s accuracy.
• Polyethylene gloves provided.
• Color-changing silica gel desiccant provided as specified by the standard.
• Igniter provided.
• Ventilation hood is optional.
• Specimen size: 228.6 mm x 228.6 mm (9 in x 9 in).
