Product Overview

 

The TESTech Microcalorimeter is designed and developed according to ASTM D7309, BS EN 60204-1, and BS EN 746-2.

The microcalorimeter is used to test the heat release and related flame-retardant properties of micro-scale material samples.

 

Because of its high cost performance, convenient operation, and fast testing speed, it can serve as a strong supplement to cone calorimeters and large calorimeters and is widely accepted and used by universities and research institutions.

 

It can rapidly measure heat release rate, heat of combustion, ignition temperature, and other parameters with specimen masses of 1 to 50 mg.

 

Unlike an ordinary oxygen bomb calorimeter, the microcalorimeter uses pyrolysis combustion flow calorimetry based on the oxygen consumption principle. The specimen is placed in the pyrolysis furnace and heated at a specified rate, typically 1 to 5 K/s. The decomposition products are carried out of the furnace by inert gas, mixed with oxygen, and injected into a 900 C combustion chamber where they are completely oxidized. The oxygen depletion and combustion gas flow rate are used to determine the heat release rate.

 

The microcalorimeter is suitable for measuring the combustibility of plastics, wood, and fabrics, and test results can be obtained within minutes using only a few milligrams of sample.
