Product Overview

 

The TESTech bunched cable vertical flame spread tester is designed according to the requirements for bunched cable burning tests in UL1685 and GB/T 18380.31, and also complies with IEC 60332-3-10 and KS C IEC 60332-3-21 to 25 for Class A to D.

 

When a specified amount of gas is supplied to the chamber and a standard ignition source is used, the instrument can be used to test the ability of vertically mounted bunched wires, cables, or optical cables to suppress vertical flame spread under standard conditions.

 

If additional heat release instrumentation is added, it can also measure dynamic values such as HRR (heat release rate) and SPR (smoke production rate).

 

Chamber Features

 

  • Stainless steel test chamber dimensions: 1,000 +/- 100 (W) x 2,000 +/- 100 (D) x 4,000 +/- 100 (H) mm. The internal floor surface is elevated above ground and the rear side is lined with thermal insulation material.
  • Equipped with standard stainless steel ladders according to GB/T 18380.31: one wide ladder 800 mm and one narrow ladder 500 mm.
  • Two spare specimen racks.
  • Stainless steel ladder material with corrosion resistance and easy cleaning.
  • Air inlet opening of 800 +/- 20 (W) x 400 +/- 10 (D) located in the lower part of the chamber, 150 +/- 10 mm from the front of the chamber.
  • K-type sheathed thermocouple, 2 mm diameter, installed inside the chamber.
  • Anemometer installed at the top of the chamber to monitor ambient airflow outside the combustion chamber.
  • Exhaust opening at the top of the chamber, 300 +/- 30 (W) x 1,000 +/- 100 (D), with adjustable exhaust speed of 10 m/s.
  • One standard electrical control cabinet.
  • Stainless steel exhaust duct and related accessories.

 

 

Combustion System

 

  • Ribbon propane burner, size 257 mm x 4.5 mm, with 242 holes arranged in three rows of 81, 80, and 81 holes. Hole diameter 1.35 mm and spacing 3.2 mm.
  • High-precision ball valve for gas on/off control.
  • Dual flowmeters for air and gas flow with control valves. At 100 kPa and 20 C: air flow 77.7 +/- 4.8 L/min; propane flow 13.5 +/- 0.5 L/min; flowmeter range adjustable from 0 to 100 L/min.
  • Flame cutoff cylinder installed at the front end of the combustion tester to prevent propane flashback and maximize specimen safety.
  • Burning angle 20 degrees with automatic ignition device.
  • Ribbon burner flame temperature up to 1100 C.
  • Computer program automatically compensates gas and air flow according to temperature and pressure, which traditional systems often ignore.
  • Real-time temperature monitoring inside the chamber with high-temperature alarm and automatic gas shutoff control.
  • Exhaust duct equipped with heat release suction port for optional connection to a combustion heat release analysis system.

 

Control System

 

  • PLC with large touch screen control system.
  • Automatic ignition and automatic timing. Timing range 999 min with 1 s accuracy.
  • Experimental data automatically stored and freely searchable.
  • 40-minute and 1-hour timing reminder function.
  • Safety emergency shutoff device.
  • Standard parameters can be queried on the screen.
