Test Principle

 

  • On the surface of a solid insulating material, a specified voltage is applied between platinum electrodes of defined dimensions, and conductive liquid drops of specified volume and timing are introduced from a fixed height.
  • The test evaluates the resistance of the material surface to electrical tracking and determines the comparative tracking index under the combined action of electric field, moisture, and contamination.

 

Structure Features

 

  • The chamber is painted for an attractive and corrosion-resistant appearance; all specimen fixtures are made of stainless steel.
  • The equipment consists of a voltmeter, ammeter, delayed overcurrent relay, power supply, circuit control system, push-button switches, signal lamps, and related components.
  • The automatic dripping device includes a dripping cylinder, dripping nozzle, counting device, drip counting device, drip control device, and drip volume measuring tool.
  • The dripping nozzle device is adjustable in height from 30 to 40 mm to ensure the droplet falls between the two electrodes.
  • The electrode assembly includes platinum electrodes, electrode fixing device, 4 mm gauge, and adjustable removable electrodes.
  • Electrode dimensions: width 5 mm, thickness 2 mm, 99.9% pure platinum, pointed tip of 30° to 60°.
  • Electrode pressure on the sample is adjustable to 1.00 N ±0.001 N; electrode spacing is 4.0 mm ±0.01 mm and included angle is 60° ±5°.
  • Equipped with specimen platform.
  • Equipped with glass plate with thickness not less than 4 mm.

 

 

Security Control System

 

  • Test voltage: continuously adjustable and digitally displayed from 0 to 600 V; maximum voltmeter display error is 1%.
  • Short-circuit current: 1 ±0.1 A, with voltage drop not exceeding 10%.
  • If the test current exceeds 0.5 A for more than 2 seconds, the system automatically shuts down the equipment.
  • Safety door interlock system prevents the test from operating when the door is open.
  • Electrodes are a pair of 5 mm x 2 mm rectangular platinum electrodes with brass projecting parts, compliant with IEC 60112 Figure B.1.
  • Electrode included angle is 60° ±5° and spacing is 4 ±0.1 mm.
  • Pressure applied by electrodes to the sample is 1.00 N ±0.05 N.
  • Drip system timing is 30 ±1 s with automatic counting and digital display; 50-drop time is 24.5 ±2 min.
  • Drip needle to sample surface height is 35 ±5 mm, with gauge for reference.
  • Drip weight requirement: 20 drops, 0.380 g to 0.489 g; 50 drops, 0.997 g to 1.147 g; number of drops can be set from 1 to 9999.
  • The access control circuit prevents the test from starting when the door is open.
