1. Drying ovens draw a relatively high current; therefore, the power cords, knife switches, fuses, plugs, sockets, and other electrical components used must have sufficient capacity. For safety purposes, the oven casing must be properly grounded.
2. Items placed inside the drying chamber should not be excessive in quantity or packed too tightly. If the items being dried are particularly moist, the exhaust vent should be opened wide. During the heating process, the blower fan may be activated to accelerate the expulsion of water vapor from the chamber. However, the blower fan should not be allowed to run continuously for extended periods; it requires appropriate intervals of rest.
3. No items should be placed on the heat-dissipation plate located at the bottom of the drying chamber, to prevent the items from being damaged by excessive heat or igniting.
4. When performing high-temperature dry-heat sterilization on glassware, one must wait until the temperature inside the chamber has cooled down before opening the door to retrieve the items; this prevents the glass from cracking due to sudden exposure to cold air.
5. It is strictly prohibited to place flammable, explosive, or highly volatile substances inside the chamber, in order to prevent accidents.
6. If it is necessary to observe the items inside the constant-temperature chamber, the outer door may be opened to allow observation through the inner glass door. The outer door should not be opened too frequently, as this may disrupt the stability of the internal temperature. Drying ovens are utilized for the drying and dry-heat sterilization of various items and are broadly categorized into two types: forced-air drying and vacuum drying. Forced-air drying employs a circulating fan to blow hot air, thereby ensuring temperature uniformity throughout the chamber; vacuum drying utilizes a vacuum pump to evacuate the air from the chamber, reducing the internal atmospheric pressure below standard atmospheric pressure, which allows experiments to be conducted on products within a highly clean environment. These devices are widely used as standard laboratory equipment.
