Design Principle
The TESTech solid auto-ignition point tester is designed according to GB/T 21756-2008 Determination of Relative Auto-Ignition
Temperature of Solid Substances, with reference to GB/T 21860-2008 Test Method for Auto-Ignition Temperature of Liquid Chemicals.
It is a method for determining the auto-ignition behavior of solid chemicals by programmed heating and is suitable for most solid specimens.
Test Method
A solid sample of specified volume is placed into the oven. The oven temperature is increased at a rate of 0.5 C until 400 C.
The specimen temperature and oven temperature are measured simultaneously. When the specimen self-heating temperature suddenly reaches 400 C, the equipment determines that auto-ignition has occurred and automatically records the oven temperature at that moment.
This recorded oven temperature is taken as the auto-ignition temperature of the specimen.
Temperature Measurement
- Two thermocouples are provided.
- One thermocouple is inserted into the center of the specimen to measure specimen temperature.
- The other thermocouple is placed between the specimen and the heating furnace to monitor the furnace temperature.
Specimen Considerations
- The specimen is normally placed in a stainless steel mesh basket with a cubic side length of 20 mm, and the basket is then placed in the heating furnace.
- Because a thermocouple must be inserted into the center of the specimen during testing, the solid specimen should normally allow insertion of a 1 mm thermocouple.
- If the specimen cannot accept a thermocouple or is too large to fit into the 20 mm cubic mesh basket, it should be crushed or ground before testing.
Not Applicable
- Explosive products.
- Products that self-ignite in air at room temperature.
- Solid products that melt under the conditions of this method, such as surfactants.
Product Introduction
- Determines the auto-ignition characteristics of solid substances by placing them in a steel wire mesh cube with side length 20 mm under rising temperature conditions in the heating chamber.
