Product Overview
The TTech fire propagation tester is developed according to the BS 476-6 test method.
Many building materials or building products in the United Kingdom and Hong Kong are required to pass the BS 476-6 fire propagation index test.
This method is applicable to interior wall materials, insulation materials, ceiling materials, and similar products, such as fiberglass sheets and LED display panels, for measuring the fire propagation index.
During the test, the fire propagation index is used to measure the fire behaviour generated by flat materials and to evaluate the fire performance of products such as walls and ceilings.
The sub-indexes of fire propagation are calculated separately for three time intervals: (0 to 3) min, (4 to 10) min, and (11 to 20) min, giving i1, i2, and i3. The total fire propagation index I is the sum of the three sub-indexes, namely I = i1 + i2 + i3.

Main Features
- All frame structures are made of stainless steel for attractive appearance and corrosion resistance.
- The device is equipped with an igniter, electronic ignition, and automatic flameout safety monitoring device.
- Stainless steel exhaust pipe with removable section for convenient thermocouple cleaning.
- Tubular blowtorch with diameter 9 mm, equipped with 14 nozzles of 1.5 mm internal diameter, with centre spacing of 12.5 mm between every two nozzles.
- The blowtorch applies flame 25 mm above the bottom of the specimen exposed surface.
- The blowtorch releases heat at 530 J/s.
- Specimen size: 225 mm x 225 mm x less than 30 mm.
- Combustion chamber made of calcium silicate refractory board with stainless steel exhaust duct.
- Three kinds of specimen supports with stainless steel wrapping arrangement.
- Radiation device consists of two radiant units: a total 2500 W quartz radiator assembly providing heat radiation to the specimen. Radiant heat of 1800 W and 1500 W is automatically controlled.
- T-shaped burner provides direct flame exposure to the specimen.
- K-type thermocouple continuously records the temperature difference between the chimney temperature and ambient temperature.
- Power output is automatically controlled and adjusted according to the test time.
- The computer automatically processes data and can print the test report.
