Product Overview
Heat release is the core measurement parameter for evaluating the fire characteristics of materials and products.
The cone calorimeter can meet all existing standards, including ISO 5660, ASTM E 1354, ASTM E 1474, ASTM E 1740, ASTM F 1550, ASTM D 6113, NFPA 264, CAN ULC 135, and BS 476 Part 15.
It may also be purchased in component form. Laboratories requiring specific tests such as heat release, mass loss, or smoke generation can first purchase the required modules and later add other instruments into the same test chamber to form a complete system.
The test theory of the cone calorimeter is based on the principle that pure combustion calorific value is proportional to the oxygen consumed in combustion. For every 1 kg of oxygen consumed, 13.1 MJ/kg of heat will be generated.
Heat release of the test gas, ignition time, oxygen consumption rate, CO and CO2 generation rate, and gas airflow are measured. The DAQ system helps the user control the whole test process, while the 19-inch touch screen supports automation and reduces installation space.
After setting the simulated temperature corresponding to real fire conditions, the user can conduct tests by changing specimen temperature and temperature rise time, obtaining results similar to real fire environments.






Structural Features
- Standard control cabinet with computer and Labview intelligent control system, attractive appearance, and easy operation.
- Cone heater inside a truncated cone, 230V, 5000W, heat output 0 to 120 kW/m2.
- Automatic ignition system and automatic burning time measurement.
- Three K-type thermocouples and three-phase PID temperature controller for temperature regulation.
- Automatic movable radiation shutter protects the specimen area before testing and ensures stability of initial mass measurement, giving the operator additional time for system inspection before test start.
- Specimen holder for specimen size 100 mm x 100 mm, thickness not exceeding 50 mm; exposed central area 50 mm x 50 mm with deviation from the cone heater centre within +/- 1%.
- Weighing system uses Siemens imported load cell; mass measurement by strain gauge pressure component; accuracy up to 0.1 g; stable weighing results with weighing range 0 to 3 kg.
- Radiation cone and weighing system are placed on an independent workbench, separated from the test mainframe to prevent vibration error from the fan duct system.

Ignition System
- Spark generator greater than 10 kV with safety shut-off device; ignition timer supports segmented timing, display resolution 1 s, and timing error less than 1 s/h; calibration burner flow meter accuracy within +/- 2% of reading.
- System automatic ignition, automatic timing, and automatic gas cut-off flameout.
- Imported lens and optical filter.
- Separated design of laser and photoelectric receiver from the smoke duct to avoid optical errors caused by smoke duct vibration.


Exhaust System
- Composed of axial flow fan, stainless steel exhaust duct, diffuser plate, smoke collection hood, exhaust pipe, orifice plate flow meter, and thermometer.
- Manufactured in stainless steel for longer service life, including hood, gas sample probe, and exhaust fan.
- Exhaust air speed control: 24 L/s; adjustable flow from 0 g/s to 50 g/s; accuracy at least 0.1 g/s; error 1%.
- Equipped with orifice plate flow meter and imported micro differential pressure sensor, range 0 to 500 Pa, accuracy +/- 1.0% FS, hysteresis +/- 0.1% FS, non-repeatability +/- 0.05% FS.
Gas Sampling System
- Includes annular sampler, suction pump, particle filter, cold trap, exhaust valve, moisture filter, and CO2 filter.
- Three-stage filter with filtration precision of 0.3 um.
- Refrigerated cold trap using compressor air-conditioning refrigeration system; control temperature 0 to 5 degrees C.
- Imported suction pump; flow 33 L/min, vacuum 700 mmHg, pressure 2.5 bar.
- Drying cylinder for filtering moisture and impurities.
- Flow controller for sampling gas flow control.
- Sampler has 12 small holes opposite to the airflow direction, with internal soot filter, located 685 mm from the smoke collection hood.

- Imported weighing sensor for measuring weight change of specimen during the test; test range 0 to 3000 g, resolution 0.01 g; actual specimen weight requirement less than 500 g.
- Temperature control system uses imported Omron PID control system; three thermocouples with diameter 1 mm measure cone temperature; another 1 mm sheathed thermocouple measures the temperature 100 mm above the orifice plate.

- Exhaust flow rate is calculated from the pressure difference on both sides of a sharp-edged orifice plate with internal diameter 57 mm +/- 1 mm in the exhaust duct, linked to the control system for automatic wind speed control, located 350 mm above the fan.
