Product Overview
Flame-retardant wires and cables that are difficult to ignite and that can prevent or delay flame spread usually refer to products that can pass the GB/T 18380.3 test, equivalent to IEC 60332-3.
The TESTech integrated cable fire resistance, impact, and water spray tester is designed and manufactured fully according to the optional BS 6387-2013 requirements and the latest GB/T 19216 standards. The product helps customers save the cost of multiple electrical control cabinets by enabling three types of tests through one control cabinet.
The system adopts a touch-screen microcomputer control system, and different tests can be selected freely on the screen. The impact or spray test platform can realize automatic ignition or manual auxiliary ignition. Flame temperature can reach above 950 C.
Common Combustion Test Section
- GB/T 19216 burner is a ribbon propane gas burner with Venturi mixer, nozzle length 500 mm and width 15 mm.
- Combustion holes are arranged in 3 staggered rows. Burner front width 15 mm; hole diameter 1.32 mm; hole center spacing 3.2 mm.
- A row of guide holes is set on each side of the nozzle plate to maintain flame stability.
- Mass flowmeters are used to control gas and air input to satisfy GB/T 19216.11-2003, IEC 60331-1:2018, and IEC 60331-2:2018 requirements.
- Air flow 80 +/- 5 L/min; propane flow 5 +/- 0.25 L/min.
- Temperature measuring device with 2 mm diameter K-type thermocouple.
- One end of the specimen rack is equipped with a clamp for fixing the specimen, and the other end allows heat transfer along the specimen length.
- Cable specimen is supported by two metal rings, with a middle distance of about 300 mm.
- Inner diameter of specimen support metal ring is 150 mm, ring cross-section diameter 10 +/- 2 mm.
- Burner position is not less than 200 mm from the bottom of the combustion chamber and not less than 300 mm from the chamber wall.
- Burner transverse axis is 70 +/- 10 mm from the lower end of the cable specimen, and the burner longitudinal axis is about 45 mm from the cable vertical axis.
- Two 1.5 mm diameter thermocouples A and B are mounted horizontally 45 mm to the left and right of the burner centerline to verify flame temperature within 750 +/- 50 C; according to BS 6387, temperature can also reach 950 C.
- Flame temperature is measured by two 1.5 mm mineral insulated stainless-steel sheathed K-type thermocouples, with positions meeting standard requirements; measurement and recording are carried out at least once every 30 seconds, and average temperature of each thermocouple can be calculated automatically.
- Transformer shall comply with relevant standard requirements and have sufficient capacity to maintain test voltage at maximum leakage current.
- The system has intelligent detection. If the specimen short-circuits during testing, it automatically alarms and shuts off the fire source.
- PLC plus touch-screen intelligent control automatically records and stores test data.
- Fuse current in specimen circuit is 2 A.
- Specimen power supply AC 100 V to 1000 V, adjustable.
- Fire exposure time can be freely set, with the standard recommended time of 90 min.
- A 27 m3 combustion chamber is optional.
- BS 6387 fire-resistance burner and related tooling are optional.
Impact Test Device Section
- Stainless steel support impact structure with painted enclosure.
- Independent motor-driven impact control box.
- Impact hammer is a solid round steel bar of 25 mm diameter and 600 mm length.
- The hammer falls freely at an angle of 60 degrees.
- Motor drives the hammer rod to perform periodic impact action.
- Impact period: 10 to 999 s, settable; standard requirement 30 +/- 2 s per cycle.
- Total test time: 0 to 9999 s.
- Ribbon burner is shared with the spray test and the fire-resistance combustion test stand.
- Test temperature 600 to 1000 C; Class A 650 C, Class B 750 C, Classes C and D 950 C.
- Thermocouple diameter less than 2 mm, shared with the fire-resistance combustion test stand.
- Each cable phase carries 0.25 A during the test.
- Supports IEC 60331-1 specimen fixture and GB 19666 Appendix B spray device.
- Supports IEC 60331-2 specimen fixture and GB 19666 Appendix A spray device.
Spray Test Device Section
- Independent spray system control cabinet.
- Stainless steel water pipelines and stainless steel water tank enclosure.
- Burner uses propane or natural gas and adopts an integral ribbon burner with length 500 mm, shared with the fire-resistance combustion test stand.
- Combustion test temperature 650 +/- 40 C.
- Circulating water tank and water pump.
- Water inlet filter.
- Temperature is measured by thermocouples not greater than 2 mm in diameter.
- Water supply pressure for spray head is 250 to 350 kPa, with spray water flow of about 0.25 to 0.3 L/s.m2 onto the specimen.
- Specimen test length is about 400 mm.
- During testing, the cable is energized through an isolation transformer and connected to a 3 A fuse or circuit breaker, with indicator lamps for continuity of each conductor phase.
