System Introduction
- The combustible gas combustion rate tester is developed in accordance with the requirements of UL 9540A and according to Appendix C of ISO 817.
- The combustion rate of combustible gas in a vertical glass tube and related auxiliary parameters are recorded by camera equipment to realize the measurement of combustible gas combustion rate.
System Composition
- The tester mainly consists of the combustion tube, ignition system, camera, gas supply system, and exhaust gas treatment system.
Combustion Tube
- Made of quartz glass, with inner diameter 40 mm and length 1.2 m.
- The combustion tube is placed vertically and fixed by machined fixtures.
- The bottom of the combustion tube is open and equipped with the ignition system and damping hole.
- The top of the combustion tube is connected to a mixing vessel. Test gas flows in from the top and out from the bottom; the top shall be closed before the end of ignition and flame propagation.
- Quenching meshes are installed at both ends of the tube, with mesh size 1 mm.
Ignition System
- The ignition system is installed at the bottom of the combustion tube.
- Ignition electrodes are made of tungsten wire with diameter 1 mm, inserted from both sides at the bottom, with spacing of 6.4 mm.
- Ignition transformer output: 15 kV, 30 mA.
- Ignition time is editable; default value is 0.3 ±0.05 s.
Camera System
- A high-speed industrial camera system is used to record flame combustion and propagation.
- Equipped with camera mounting bracket with adjustable height.
- A reflector is mounted on the side of the combustion tube so the camera can simultaneously capture front and side flame effects.
- Dedicated flame image analysis software calculates flame height.
Gas Supply System
- The gas supply system consists of a suction pump and flowmeter.
- Imported KNF suction pump, flow rate 33 L/min.
- Sample gas flow is stabilized through the flowmeter.
- A mixing vessel and magnetic stirrer are configured to ensure uniform mixing of the test gas.
- Before the test, air purging removes impurities inside the combustion tube.
- Before the test, sample gas purging ensures accurate gas concentration inside the combustion tube.
Exhaust Gas Treatment System
- An expansion vessel and gas washing bottle are connected at the tail end of the combustion tube.
- The gas washing bottle is filled with absorption solution to absorb harmful components in the exhaust gas.
Burning Rate Calculation
- Burning rate is determined based on the recorded flame propagation process and related auxiliary parameters.
